Emu Oil
The Australian Aborigines were the first people to find out about the great healing properties of Emu Oil. They have used it for thousands of years as a valued remedy to keep their muscles and joints supple, and to protect their skin from the harsh Australian sun. The early pioneers saw the Aborigines hanging the emus' skins from trees. They thought it was an Aborigine ritual until they discovered that they were collecting the oil from the emu skins as it melted in the hot sun. It was not long before most pioneers had a pot of the oil in their medicine cabinets, and some reported remarkable healing effects. The famous explorer Robert O'Hara Burke tells how he rubbed emu oil into his arms when he was sunburned and found that, not only did it help his sunburn, but his stiff elbow as well.
Emu Oil is a natural healing oil which is highly penetrating, anti-bacterial, and has anti-inflammatory properties beneficial to the body and skin. It is an odourless white solid at room temperature but melts at 20-22°C to become a clear golden coloured liquid.
Emu oil contains the essential fatty acids; Linoleic acid (Omega-6), Linolenic acid (Omega-3), Oleic acid (anti-inflammatory), Palmitic acid, and some traces of other fatty acids. Emu Oil has the highest concentration of Omega 3 found in nature. These fatty acids are essential in our day-to-day lives to ensure that our bodies remain in top working order. The body not make them itself, so it is important to get these fatty acids from other sources. Emu Oil is an excellent source of these important fatty acids. Our pure Emu Oil has no hormones, bacteria or steroids in it.
Pure Emu Oil is a solid but it melts at temperatures over 22°C. Cooling it will return it to its solid state. It is just as effective when applied as a liquid or as a solid.
Emu Oil softens and moisturises the skin, heals chapped and dry skin, evenly tones the skin and softens wrinkles.
Emu Oil, when massaged into the skin quickly penetrates and saturates all the underlying tissues. It's action moisturises the skin and provides anti-inflammatory effects to muscles and joints. Emu Oil is bacterio-static, so bacteria will not grow in it. Therefore, Emu Oil lasts a very long time. It is non-allergenic and as yet no side effects have ever been reported. It is non-comedogenic, so it will not block pores causing spots. Emu Oil is so gentle, it can be used, quite safely, on the most sensitive of skins, and importantly, you do not need to avoid the area round the eyes.
Emu Oil has anti-inflammatory properties which soothe muscles and joints, and encourages re-growth of skin cells and hair follicles. It is very effective because, when massaged into the skin, the oil penetrates right into the muscles and joints.
Emu Oil may be massaged into the skin, saturating the underlying tissue to help with many different problems such as sore muscles and joints and chapped, dry or broken skin. Emu Oil is one of the best natural trans-dermal oils available. It easily penetrates all the layers of skin so it reaches the muscles and joints where it is needed most.
Emu Oil is used by massaging a small amount onto the affected area as often as possible for the first 2-3 days. Then use it 1-2 times a day, or as often as is required. Because there are no known side effects caused by pure Emu Oil, you can use it as often as you want.
It should be stored upright, out of direct sunlight in a cool place. You only need to refrigerate it for a short amount of time if it has melted. It does not matter whether you use it as a solid, or when it has melted, the effects will be the same.
Used as directed, a 50g or 55g pot should last for about 6-8 weeks. It is safe to use Emu Oil for a year after it's purchased.
Pure Emu Oil is non-allergenic and there have been no reported problems after using it. All of our other products contain small amounts of essential oils.
